Meet Shaun Kempf

I am a novelist, playwright, and teacher with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Creative Writing. My novels tend to explore courage, faith, mystery, sacrifice, and the difficult choices that reveal who people truly are. My plays take a lighter approach, using eccentric characters, awkward situations, and escalating misunderstandings to find humor in the unexpected.

Three of my plays have been produced by community theaters, and I continue to write stories for both the page and the stage. Whether I am creating a suspenseful journey into the wilderness or sending an aspiring supervillain’s plans hilariously off course, I am drawn to stories with memorable characters, meaningful stakes, and a sense of hope. As a teacher, I also have the privilege of helping young people discover the power of reading, writing, creativity, and finding their own voices.
